Legendary Veysel Hodja – Master Instructor of Skiing

The year 1972… The beginning of a ten-year adventure in the Arlberg, Lech Zurs, Tyrol, Innsbruck and Kitzbühel regions of Austria and the famous ski resorts of Italy and Switzerland. During those years, I lived on some of the most challenging and prestigious slopes in Europe. I trained at ski schools in Austria, Italy and Switzerland, specializing in skiing techniques, performance skiing and theoretical training. I learned professional-level techniques on the blue, red and black pistes on the high-altitude, snowy and icy slopes of the Alps.

Education in Europe, Experience in Turkey

During my years of experience in Europe, I learned German, successfully completed theoretical ski training and instruction courses, attended technical courses at leading European ski and snowboard resorts, and deepened my knowledge of the altitude, slope and difficulty of the slopes.

Then I returned to my country, Turkey, and I realized that there are ski resorts in Turkey that are as high quality and developed as the Alps. Especially Erciyes Ski Center in Kayseri, the city where I was born and raised, has slopes and snow quality that resemble the Alps. I am very happy to work here as a ski instructor and to pass on my years of experience to my students.

At Erciyes Ski Center, I give ski training to both children and adults on blue, red and black slopes. I aim to teach my students basic and advanced techniques such as parallel skiing, snow wing techniques, balance, turning, braking, while at the same time gaining self-confidence. My biggest goal is to raise individuals who adopt skiing not only as an activity but as a way of life.
